The 'Time' and 'Money' Factors In An Online Business

For any business to grow it will require time and money. You can not expect to have a profitable business running suddenly. Some time and investment should be given to it to make it sustain and grow. And an online business is no exception to that.

While one should always try to stay away from 'get rich quick' schemes (which are nothing other than scams), but one should also carefully plan a time management strategy to utilize his time properly for his education, as well as for his marketing effort.

By 'education', I mean to say, a 'learning curve'. Yes, A learning curve is certainly required, and one can not expect to escape it and see the sign of profit from his business. To learn different aspects of your business you will have to give many hours , from the time that is available to you, to your business. But there are only that many hours in a day. And you may feel this amount of time is not sufficient for you. So plan in advance for the time that you will give to your education and for your marketing efforts.

An effective way of time management is to perform something extra in advance. I have always tried to perform something extra after finishing certain tasks. For example, if I plan to write an article within the next 4 hours, after finishing the article, I look for if there is anything else that I can do. Then I find that certain number of documents are needed to upload to my server. Or, I see 4 or 5 interesting articles for reading and learn something new. I just perform those tasks. This helps me save some time for the next day.

In online marketing world, time and money go in reciprocal paths in general. That means the more money you can put into your business, the less time would be required from you. On the other hand, if you are not willing to put more money (or cannot afford to put more money) into your business, then you will have to give more time to your business.

Can you relate the above statement for FREE and PAID advertising? Here is the equation:

Free Advertising = Requires Time (i.e. not requiring money)
Paid Advertising = Requires Money (i.e. not requiring time)

Got anything from here? See that free advertising will not cost you money, but will cost you time. And paid advertising will not cost you time but will cost you money.

considering the versatile nature of online marketing world, one who can afford spending money in paid advertising, surely has some advantages. If one is willing to earn lots of money, effective paid advertising should be his number one priority. Note the word: "LOTS OF MONEY". Yes, to quickly earn lots of money you will need to depend on effective paid advertising campaigns. And an online 'Guru' knows where to put his money to get quick and massive profit.

Which one is better? Spending 15 days in free advertising and then wait for next 2 months to see result? Or, spending $1000 in PPC and ezine advertising campaigns and earn $1500 within the next 7 days? You decide.

By saying all these, I am not going to put myself totally against free advertising. Free advertising produces results, obviously. But it will cost you time. On the other hand, I also do not recommend paid advertising for everyone out there. Unless you know how to invest properly, you must be careful to not lose money in futile advertising efforts. There are a lot of testing to be done, and a lot of trial and error advertising processes lie before. So if you really want to invest, start with small investment.
